Professional Counselling for Adults and Teens
Supporting Adults and Teens through anxiety, stress and life transitions
I offer supportive, practical counselling for adults and teens dealing with anxiety, stress, OCD, and the weight of everyday life. My approach is grounded in CBT and ACT, not because they are trendy, but because they give you actual tools for change, not just a space to talk.
A lot of people come to me after trying counselling before and feeling like nothing shifted. That experience makes sense. Talking about a problem is not the same as learning to think and respond differently. That is the gap I work in.
I see clients in person in Sherwood Park, virtually across Alberta, BC, Saskatchewan, and Manitoba, and for walk-and-talk sessions outdoors for those who find movement helps. OCD is a particular focus of my practice. If you or your teenager is managing OCD, I am passionate about helping you understand it, reduce its grip, and get back to daily life with more confidence.

Discover a path to healing and growth.
A lot of people come to counselling after months of coping on their own. They are exhausted, stuck in the same patterns, and not sure what to try next. They have tried pushing through. They have Googled their way through anxiety spirals at 2am. They have told themselves it will pass. And it hasn't.
If that sounds familiar, this is the right place. I work with adults and teens who are ready for practical support, not just someone to talk at. My approach is grounded in CBT and ACT, which means sessions are focused on actual change, not just insight. You leave with something to work with, not just something to think about.
You do not have to have it all figured out before you reach out. A first session is simply a conversation about what is going on and what you are hoping to feel differently about. We go from there.
ABOUT TARA SECTION
Guiding you on your path to wellness.
I have spent 25 years working with people navigating some of the hardest moments of their lives, in schools in BC, in community settings, and in international schools across China, Cambodia, and North Africa. I started my career working with youth who were struggling in circumstances most people will never face. That work shaped everything about how I show up with clients today.
I hold a Master's degree in Counselling Psychology from Simon Fraser University, and I am a Registered Clinical Counsellor (RCC), a Canadian Certified Counsellor (CCC), and a member of the Alberta Counselling Therapists Association. I am CBT-certified and ACT-trained.
My approach is straightforward: curiosity, kindness, and a touch of humour, because healing does not have to be heavy all the time.

Frequently Asked Questions
CBT is structured. We identify the thought patterns driving how you feel and behave, and we work on changing them, not just understanding them. Most clients leave sessions with something concrete to practice before the next one.
Yes. I work with teens ages 12 to 18 and have 25 years of experience in school counselling and youth support. I also offer parent coaching for families navigating the challenges of raising teenagers.
Yes. OCD is a particular focus of my practice. I am passionate about helping clients understand how OCD works, reduce its impact on daily life, and build confidence in situations they have been avoiding.
If you have been feeling stuck, overwhelmed, or like you are just managing rather than actually living, counselling is worth exploring. You do not need a diagnosis or a crisis to reach out. A first session is simply a conversation to see whether working together makes sense.
