What is OCD Therapy?

Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD) therapy is designed to help individuals manage the intrusive thoughts and compulsive behaviors that characterize OCD. This type of therapy often includes Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), specifically Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP), which is considered highly effective in treating OCD. Through this approach, individuals learn to gradually face their fears and reduce their reliance on compulsive behaviors for relief. Therapy can also incorporate mindfulness and acceptance strategies to further support individuals in understanding and altering their thought patterns. The goal is to empower individuals to live a more balanced and fulfilling life by reducing the impact of OCD on their daily routines and mental well-being.

Counselling

If you are looking to gain insight or clarity on issues that have been challenging for a week, months, or perhaps years, individual counselling may be a great option for such exploration. In this one-on-one setting, you will be offered a warm, caring, and supportive space to explore what contributes to your feelings of being stuck. My approach is to provide counselling with kindness, curiosity, and a touch of humour. I provide virtual counselling for teens and adults, as well as in-person at-home counselling or “walk and talks” in the Sherwood Park area. Services also include mental health consultations and parent coaching. Individual counselling areas may include, but are not limited to: • Anxiety • Depression • Emotional Regulation • Loneliness • Grief & Loss • Caretaker stress • Life Transitions & Adjustment • Self-Care • Self-Esteem • Stress Management • Chronic Pain • Adapting to a new country (Expats and International students)

Taking the first step can be the most challenging part of the journey towards mental wellness, but it can also be the most rewarding. If you are ready to take back control of your life and be happier you, I invite you to contact me. Let’s get started!!

Consulting

Mental Health Consulting What is Mental Health Consultation?

Mental Health Consulting should not be viewed as a formal “mental health assessment”, nor will it provide a mental health diagnosis for your current concerns.

It’s a consultation with a therapist who isn’t your therapist. Sometimes, we all need an outside perspective when we’re unsure about what to do next.

Reasons you may benefit from a mental health consultation session include:

• If you want an outside perspective or a different context about your current concerns, struggles, and/or circumstances, • If you want to know what type of therapy could be best suited for your situation, • If you are trying to decide between therapy or coaching to move you towards your goals, • If you have someone in your life you are concerned about and want to know what options are available for you and them, • If you are a parent trying to navigate the best school and mental health support for your child. • Or if you have specific questions about your situation, but are not sure if you are ready for the commitment of therapy or coaching yet.

Can I return for additional sessions?

If the work you want to do is best addressed in an ongoing therapy relationship, I serve you best by helping you find a long-term therapist that you can continue to work if needed. I have a large referrals network of counsellors and resources so will do my best to give you suggestions that would suit your needs. If you are interested in becoming one of my counselling clients we can discuss if I would be a good fit for your needs.

What Mental Health Consulting is not: This service is not meant to replace therapeutic work. This is not a quick fix but instead the beginning of change. Also, I work from This is how I can help.

Consulting sessions are a short-term catalyst that allow me to share my clinical experience with those looking for direction and insight, with the understanding they would connect with someone else for the longer-term depth work often required.

What happens in these sessions?

First off, you would take some time to fill out an intake form and determine your goals for the session. Once there, we’ll explore your concerns and I’ll offer you feedback and recommendations on ways you could move forward and/or explore potential roadblocks to progress.

This feedback may take a few different forms: • Psycho-education about your concern or questions so you can feel empowered to make future decisions, Recommendations for books you could read to learn more about yourself and your circumstances, • Exploration of exercises or activities to support healing and/or growth, • Suggestions for types of therapy or other modalities that might be useful for you as you move toward your goals, • Assistance with referrals to other professionals.

How long or how much is our session? Sessions are 90 minutes long to allow us time to explore your situation the cost is 190.00
