Are you thinking about counselling but not sure if it is something that will be helpful?

Do I really need Counselling ? As a counsellor I hear this question many times in my first session with clients. People sometimes think or feel that their “problem “isn’t big enough” they should “wait for things to change”, or they should be “strong enough” to figure it out for themselves. The answer is different for every individual but as a therapist I believe that talking helps and unlike talking to friends or family or colleagues’ counsellors will listen without judgment or bias and have specialized training in theraputic approaches that can directly help you find solutions to the struggles that you are experencing. The bottom line is if you can access counselling services it’s a beneficial thing to do. Therapy is an investment in yourself and

Any problem that is affecting your relationships, career, self-esteem, or just generally how much joy you are feeling in your everyday life is worth taking the time to talk to a professional counsellor. Reaching out for support doesn’t mean something is wrong with you, it means you are ready to invest in your well-being and take steps to change the things in your life that are making you feel stuck, stressed, anxious, sad, or overwhelmed.

5 Signs that it might be time to seek counselling.

1) Everyday stress feels overwhelming no matter how hard you try to feel at ease.

2) Your sleep, mood or ability to focus has been affected for weeks.

3) You keep thinking the same unhelpful thoughts.

4)You feel stuck and unable to move forward.

5) You feel no sense of hope for the future

If you would like to explore the process of counselling and see if it would be a good fit for your life you can book a initial session without committing to long term counselling. Reach out to get support and if you don’t find a counsellor that seems to be a good fit for you don’t hesitate to try a different counsellor. The important thing is taking the first step.

One of the options I offer is a “Mental Health Consult “. If you would like more information about this checkout the “Mental Health Consultation” link on my service page.
